July 22, 2010 will be the 42nd birthday of Leroy Mann. As he celebrates his birthday for the 15th time behind the wall, we are asking his family, friends and supporters to send their prayers, words of encouragement or just birthday wishes. We will collect comments until 5pm on Monday, July 19, 2010 and they will be forwarded to Leroy on his birthday. Those of you who visit him on a regular basis, he doesn't know we are doing this so please don't mention it to him. It will be a surprise.

  6. Lump,

What can I say? I can only hope that on this 42nd birthday you recognize how special you are to those who know and love you.

Your burden may seem heavy, but it's not insurmountable as long as you have hope. Just don't give up and remember He never gives you more than you can bear.

Whew, 42 is a big number :-). I'm just glad you got there before me. LOL. Happy Birthday Lump!

  9. Hotep,
Motion pictures such as: A Soldier's Story, Glory, Malcom X, The Hurricane, He Got Game and The Great Debaters all have the great Denzel Washington in common. Without a doubt, he is one of the most prolific thespians of our time.

Today (7/23), I witnessed his latest body of work, "The Book of Eli." Denzel has set such a high standard, that this film may not be embraced as one of his best works, but it most definitely fed my thoughts. Na mean?

Like Denzel's character (Eli), I too am on a mission from a higher power. If I stay the course, my purpose will be served no matter what obstacles lie before me. Throughout my journey, acknowledging sincere efforts of support is essential to me fulfilling my mission. Feel me?

In saying that, I sincerely thank everyone for the b-day acknowledgements. Behind the Wall it's easy to feel like your existence is in vain, but your heartfelt comments remind me to keep fighting the good fight. Your words reassure me that I'm making the most of this opportunity the Creator has granted to me.

Dollette, you obviously know how I feel about my fam. That sense of protection and unity we displayed in the past bred some wonderful memories. My words were meant for your heart. I love you Cuz.

Shaunie, it's good to finally get some words to go with your unforgettable image. I do remember the good times, but I'd like to forget those little shorts. LOL. Don't be a stranger. Ya heard?

Deb, my big sis. I love you madly, but can we please shelf that term "grandparents?" I'm a G-dad, aight? LOL. Good look, on the b-day card. You always make me smile.

Thanks for loving me Aunt Nettie. I love you too. My lil' cuzzo Jazzy, is a gem of a gift and I thank you for her. Real talk.

Jazzy keep pushing that pen/keys, Lil Mama. Your literary legacy begins now. Ya heard? I've always known that you were in my corner Cuzzo, but having your thoughts on my blog means a lot to me. One love.

Rochelle, you never cease to amaze me. How is it Possible? After all these years our friendship never withered. You are the embodiment of the expression, "once a friend, always a friend." thanks for believing in me Ma. Your sincerity irons the wrinkles of my daily living. You're the truth, Chelle. No doubt.

  10. Hotep Tonja,

Thanks for taking me back to Vegas. Can you believe that was over two decades ago? Wow! Time waits for no one. Ya heard?

My memories are like spark plugs to my existence. Shooting craps in a Las Vegas casino is a spark plug that will never need changing. And, I have you to thank for that. Living in San Dogg, partying in Tijuana and celebrating my 21st b-day in Vegas are memories that bring a smile to my face 21 years later. Ya heard?

    Be easy,

    Mannofstat

  11. Highrise,

Once again it's on! Good look on the b-day shout. You might be getting older, but I'm getting better. LOL. Basement parties in the 80's was the real. It didn't matter whose b-day it was, Planet Rock, Micstro or Freedour would be the theme. True old school. Ya heard?

    Be Easy,
    Mannofstat

  13. Tweedy,

What's good? Our son is most definitely a gift to us and I give all the glory to the Creator, for his existence. I got a scribe from him recently. He said, "it's not what you have, it's how you react to it when it's gone that measures a Mann's character." He truly understands my situation. That's what's good, no doubt.

I love that Mann to death. I'm so proud of him. It's an honor to call him my son. I can't wait to meet my grandseed. I know he's a work of art, because we both know the seed of a Mann is a beautiful thing, right?

Tell my son to check his snail mail. I'm sending him a momento of the Mann legacy. Stay in touch.

    Peace,

    MannofStat
